Some people have a mitzvah to eat on Yom Kippur. How do I know if I am one of them?
Do I decide for myself? Do I ask a rabbi or halakhic (Jewish law) responder? Should I speak to healthcare professionals?

If I speak to a rabbi, how might I frame the conversation? What is the role of rabbis, halakhic responders and healthcare professionals in these conversations?

Sarah Osborne and Rabbanit Debbie Zimmerman will consider these and other questions, sharing their personal and professional experiences, informed by traditional Jewish sources and practice.

This is a joint program with Matan - Women’s Institute for Torah Study. All genders are welcome.

Sarah Osborne is the Founding Director of A Mitzvah to Eat.

Rabbanit Debbie Zimmerman is a halakhic (Jewish law) responder and Director of Shayla, Matan’s online responsa.
